Let yourself be held by the water.

Feeling stressed, tense, tired, or simply in need of slowing down?

WATSU® is a gentle aquatic bodywork experience in warm water. Steve supports and guides you through flowing movements, massage, gentle stretches and stillness — inviting the body to soften and the mind to become quieter.

Each session is adapted to you and what you need on the day.

Allow approximately 40 minutes for the complete experience, including 30 minutes of WATSU in the water and time for preparation and grounding before and after the session.

No previous experience or ability to float is needed.

Lagoon or pool admission may be required separately.

Watsu Student Sessions

Relax your nervous system by tuning into WATSU Vibes at a Private Pool in Reykjavik.

Water Therapy Iceland has invited WATSU practitioners from France, Scotland and Poland to support an upcoming course and provide private sessions in Reykjavik. Special guest teacher Gianni from Switzerland will also be with us.

We are fully booked with the sessions but we still have an offering to come and witness them at work.

We will have chill music playing, two hot tubs to relax in and watch or hang out by the side of the pool.

This will be a phone free and silent observation, with a chance to speak before and after the sessions and during an intermission while therapists take a break in between.

31 October – 1 November 2026 | Reykjavík, Iceland - Hátun 12 rehab pool

Discover the foundations of WATSU® through two immersive days of learning, giving and receiving in warm water.

Basic WATSU® is an introduction to working with another person in water. You will learn how to safely hold and support someone, explore basic movements and transitions, work with breath and stillness, and begin to understand the unique qualities of water as a therapeutic environment.

No previous WATSU® experience is required.

The course is particularly suited to massage therapists, bodyworkers, physiotherapists, movement professionals and anyone curious about working therapeutically in water. It can also be taken as a personal exploration rather than the beginning of a professional path.

Your teacher

The course will be co-taught with Gianni De Stefani, an internationally experienced WATSU® teacher who has been teaching since 1999. Gianni has helped develop aquatic communities and training in France, Italy and India and is also the creator of WOGA — Yoga in Water.

More than a weekend

This year, Basic WATSU® is part of a wider five-day WATSU experience in Iceland.

From 28–30 October, we will host introductory experiences, WATSU® sessions with certified practitioners and opportunities to explore working together in water. During the daytime, there will also be opportunities to explore Iceland with our visiting practitioners and community.

You can join the Basic WATSU® course on its own or participate in selected activities during the preceding days.

Come to learn a new skill. Leave with a different understanding of water, touch and connection.
